Saturdays are my favorite days of the week by far because it is the day of the Ann Arbor farmers’ market. I love all aspects of this weekly event – listening to (some tunes) while walking with the calm morning air, ogling all of the tender, succulent greens and piles of Michigan apples, unexpectedly running into equally joyous friends, feeling silly (and bountiful) walking home with literally armfuls of vegetables.
I got out of the house today much later than normal so I didn’t get first dibs on the usual variety of leafy green blossoms that I have become accustom to over the few weeks. Although I instead into my camera-wielding compadre, Logan, who joined me for (fennel frond-cilantro-celery) juice and (kale-sorrel-avocado-fennel bulb-lemon-ginger) salad in the sunshine.
So what happens when you don’t begin your ashtanga practice until 7:45 p.m. and in turn don’t think about dinner until 9:30 p.m.? Green smoothie for post-yoga dinner!
3 ripe bananas
an absurd amount of spinach (handfuls and handfuls and handfuls)
2 kale leaves
2 spoonfuls of coconut oil
1 teaspoon of maca powder
